Tripura Police Arrest Woman With 1,960 Yaba Tablets in Dharmanagar Drug Bust

Tripura Police achieved a major breakthrough in their anti-narcotics drive on Saturday. They arrested a woman from Agartala with a large quantity of Yaba tablets in Dharmanagar.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a special team from Dharmanagar Police Station carried out a raid near Railway Station Road. The intelligence wing supported the operation. The team detained Shukla Debnath, 37, daughter of Dwijendra Debnath.

Suspicious Movement Raises Alert

Police officials said Debnath is originally from Kamalasagar Debipur. She currently lives in Chandrapur, Agartala. Officers noticed her suspicious movement in the Rajbari area earlier in the day. They kept her under surveillance before stopping her for questioning.

During the search, police recovered 1,960 Yaba tablets. The tablets were packed in 10 separate packets. Officials estimated the market value at Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.

Raid Held Under Legal Procedure

The police conducted the raid in the presence of a Duty Magistrate. A forensic team also remained present. These steps ensured compliance with legal procedures.

The Officer-in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station led the operation. Intelligence officials provided active support throughout the raid.

Probe Into Drug Network Begins

During preliminary questioning, Debnath admitted she had travelled from Agartala earlier that morning. Police believe she intended to supply the drugs within Tripura or transport them further.

Investigators suspect her involvement in a wider drug trafficking network. They are examining possible interstate and cross-border links.

Police have launched a detailed investigation to identify others connected to the racket. Officials are analysing call records and financial transactions. More arrests are likely as the probe continues.

Police Reaffirm Crackdown on Drugs

Tripura Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking. Officials said intelligence-based operations will continue across sensitive areas. They stressed that such actions aim to protect youth from drug abuse.

Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses
