Tripura’s Power Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, convened a review meeting at Bishalgarh on Saturday to address public concerns over frequent power disruptions in the region. The meeting came in the wake of rising complaints from residents regarding electricity outages in the run-up to the Durga Puja festivities.
During the meeting, Minister Nath emphasized the need for reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply, particularly with the upcoming festive season expected to increase power demand. He instructed officials of the power department to take urgent measures to rectify technical issues and ensure that supply remains stable throughout Bishalgarh and adjoining areas.
Officials were directed to conduct field inspections, carry out necessary maintenance, and deploy additional staff wherever required. The minister also stressed on strengthening the monitoring system to quickly identify faults and restore services without delay.
Highlighting the importance of electricity for households, markets, and community functions during Puja, Nath said that uninterrupted supply is essential to maintain public confidence and support economic activity. He urged the department to remain fully prepared and proactive in handling emergencies.
The meeting also witnessed inputs from senior officials of the power department and local administration. They assured that steps are being taken to upgrade infrastructure, replace damaged lines, and streamline supply. With the Puja season approaching, priority has been given to maintaining consistent electricity flow across residential and commercial areas.
Residents of Bishalgarh have been voicing concerns over repeated outages in recent weeks, leading to unrest in several localities. The minister acknowledged the grievances and assured that corrective measures will be visible in the coming days.
Tripura has been focusing on strengthening its power infrastructure through modernization, maintenance drives, and improved coordination between departments. The government has also highlighted the importance of addressing ground-level issues to avoid disruption of essential services during festivals.
