Agartala: The Tripura government has increased the Festival Grant and Festival Advance for the financial year 2026-27 ahead of Durga Puja. Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy announced the revised benefits at a press conference in Agartala on Wednesday. The government has earmarked ₹47.16 crore for the Festival Grant and around ₹183.77 crore for the Festival Advance.
The enhanced Festival Grant will benefit 2,34,417 employees, workers, pensioners and family pensioners across the state. The government has also increased the interest-free Festival Advance for eligible employees and workers.

Festival Grant Increased by ₹300
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said the government has increased the Festival Grant by ₹300 across the eligible categories.
The revised grant will cover 1,48,501 employees and workers along with 85,916 pensioners and family pensioners.
Under the new rates, Group-C and Group-D employees, including eligible fixed-pay recruits, will receive ₹2,400. Daily-rated workers engaged with Finance Department approval, pensioners, family pensioners and priests of government-run temples will also receive ₹2,400.
The previous grant for these categories stood at ₹2,100.
Revised Grant for Contractual and Part-Time Workers
The government has also increased the grant for part-time, contractual and casual workers.
Anganwadi workers and helpers, Home Guards, SPOs and certain eligible daily-rated and contractual workers will now receive ₹2,610. The previous rate stood at ₹2,310.
Meanwhile, eligible part-time and irregular pump operators under PWD (DWS) and part-time pump operators under the RD (Panchayat) Department will receive ₹1,350.
The previous amount for this category was ₹1,050.
₹6.14 Crore Additional Allocation
The Finance Minister said the government has made an additional allocation of ₹6.14 crore to meet the increased Festival Grant requirement.
Eligible beneficiaries can claim the grant for one of nine designated religious festivals during the financial year.
The list includes Durga Puja, Christmas, Garia Puja, Buddha Purnima, Eid-Uz-Zuha, Bengali New Year, Eid-Ul-Fitr, Guru Nanak’s Birthday and Mahavir Jayanti.
Eligible employees do not need to submit an online application for the Festival Grant. However, administrative departments will decide eligibility for personnel working under Central Schemes.
Festival Advance Gets Major Increase
The government has also increased the interest-free Festival Advance for eligible employees and workers.
According to the Finance Minister, nearly one lakh state government employees and other eligible workers will receive the benefit. The government has earmarked approximately ₹183.77 crore for the scheme.
The revised rates mark a substantial increase from the amounts that remained applicable since 2017-18.
Group A to Group D Employees to Get ₹20,000
Regular Group-A, Group-B, Group-C and Group-D employees will now qualify for a ₹20,000 Festival Advance.
The same amount will apply to eligible fixed-pay recruits and daily-rated workers under Groups C and D.
Previously, the advance for these categories ranged between ₹4,000 and ₹5,000.
The advance remains interest-free, providing additional financial support ahead of the festive season.
Anganwadi Workers and Home Guards Included
For the first time under the revised structure, Anganwadi workers and helpers and Home Guards will receive ₹5,000 each as Festival Advance.
ASHA workers who receive payments through the National Health Mission will qualify for ₹2,000.
The inclusion of these categories expands the coverage of the revised Festival Advance scheme.
Online Application Required for Festival Advance
Unlike the Festival Grant, eligible employees must apply online for the Festival Advance.
Applicants must use the NextGen HRMS portal to submit their requests.
The Finance Department has already issued standard operating procedures for bill processing by Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs).
The department issued the instructions through Memorandum No. F.1(1)/FIN/Ngen-HRMS/2025/Part-I dated September 21, 2026.
