Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday said the state and the country remain fully prepared to tackle any emerging challenge. He confirmed that authorities have already strengthened border security due to the ongoing situation in neighbouring Bangladesh.
Speaking to the media after attending an official programme in Agartala, Dr. Saha said instability continues across the border. He noted that the situation worsened after former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave the country.
Moreover, the Chief Minister expressed concern over reports of criminals being released or escaping from prisons in Bangladesh. According to him, such developments demand close monitoring and heightened alertness along the international border.

State, Centre in Constant Coordination
As the Home Minister of Tripura, Dr. Saha said the state government has maintained constant communication with the Centre. He added that since the issue involves another country, the central leadership is closely involved.
“We have shared detailed inputs with the Centre. Meanwhile, we remain ready to respond to any situation,” he said.
He further stressed that strong coordination between state and central agencies plays a key role in maintaining law and order. Therefore, officials continue to exchange intelligence and assess the situation regularly.
Security Forces Step Up Preparedness
Dr. Saha informed that security agencies recently conducted joint exercises with the Indian Army to assess border preparedness. These drills helped authorities test response mechanisms and coordination among forces.
In addition, agencies have strengthened border management through enhanced surveillance and deployment. The Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Assam Rifles and Tripura Police are working together to secure the border.
He said the government has adopted advanced technology to monitor sensitive areas. As a result, forces can respond faster to any potential threat.
Centre Closely Watching Developments
The Chief Minister also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior national-level officials are closely tracking developments in Bangladesh. He added that the Centre continues to guide states sharing international borders.
“With coordinated security measures and modern technology, we are fully prepared to handle any eventuality,” Dr. Saha said.
Finally, he urged citizens to remain calm and trust the security forces. He reiterated that the government’s top priority remains public safety and regional stability.
