Tripura: Senior Leader Of The BJP Resigns

Giving a major blow to the ruling BJP ahead of the upcoming Tripura Village Committee Election in November this year and the State Assembly Election in February 2023, senior leader Ranabir Bhattacharjee from district Unnokoti on Thursday, 17th August submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Manik Saha.

Bhattacharjee in his letter of resignation states that his reason for taking the decision is due to ongoing corruption inside the party. Chatterjee alleges that the party members are involved in the factional feud and power battle amongst themselves.

Bhattacharjee further in his letter states that he was unable to continue and fulfill his duty since the party is “running with vested interest”

The senior leader alleges that a few members of the party who have high-handedness and are close to the Tripura Labour Minister Bhagwan Das have made it difficult for him to manage the party.

Bhattacharjee who was recently elected as the Mandal president of Kailashahar in his letter states that “Soon after taking the charge of Mandal President, I tried to reshape the organization by removing all corrupt people who have been otherwise proven to be detrimental to BJP. But the move triggered several disagreements with a section of party leaders who are close to the minister.”. “The issues related to corruption, involvement in crimes and non-BJP activities of some state-level leaders and ministers were reported to party national president, Prime Minister, and Home Minister several times but no action so far,” Bhattacharjee adds.

The senior member of the party also alleges that several veteran leaders of the organization who once played a pivotal role in installing the BJP-led govt. in the state have reportedly been sidelined after they tried to raise voices against the current flawed functioning methods of the party. He alleges that “The state leaders have been holding party meetings without his knowledge. Unfortunately, the matter was brought to the notice of the state committee, but no corrective measures were taken.”
