Tripura TTAAD Village Committee Elections: NDA Wins 4,320 Seats With 77.50% Vote Share

Agartala, Tripura: The Tipra Motha Party (TMP), BJP and Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), which contested the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District (TTAAD) Village Committee elections as NDA partners, won 4,320 seats with a combined vote share of 77.50 per cent. The State Election Commission released its final election analysis on Tuesday. TMP led the alliance with 3,428 seats and 46.76 per cent of the votes. The BJP secured 859 seats with 28 per cent, while IPFT won 33 seats with 2.74 per cent. The results covered 4,594 seats across the tribal council areas.

TMP Emerges as Largest Force

The State Election Commission’s final analysis showed Tipra Motha as the largest political force in the TTAAD Village Committee elections.

TMP won 3,428 seats and secured 46.76 per cent of the total vote share. The BJP followed with 859 seats and 28 per cent of the votes.

Meanwhile, IPFT won 33 seats and received 2.74 per cent of the vote share. Together, the three NDA constituents secured 4,320 seats.

The alliance also crossed the 77 per cent mark in combined vote share, highlighting its strong performance across the tribal council areas.

TMP Wins Majority in 457 Village Committees

The SEC said TMP secured a majority in 457 Village Committees.

The BJP emerged as the majority party in 94 Village Committees. In comparison, the CPI(M) secured majorities in two committees, while IPFT also won a majority in two.

The commission classified 31 Village Committees under the independent category. These committees either lacked a clear majority or had a predominance of independent and unaffiliated candidates.

Final Party-Wise Seat Distribution

The final seat distribution further highlighted the difference between the major political parties.

TMP won 3,428 seats, followed by the BJP with 859. Independents secured 173 seats, while the CPI(M) won 87.

IPFT secured 33 seats and Congress won 14 seats. Three seats remained vacant after the election process.

According to the SEC, TMP recorded the highest vote share at 46.76 per cent. The BJP followed with 28 per cent, while CPI(M) secured 12.90 per cent.

Independents received 7.74 per cent, IPFT received 2.74 per cent and Congress secured 1.86 per cent.

Counting Completed Across Tripura

State Election Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty presented the final analysis during a press conference in Agartala on Tuesday.

He said election officials completed the counting process successfully across the state.

Counting began at 8 am on October 5 at 44 locations. Officials used 45 counting halls across 44 RD Blocks.

Most Returning Officers completed the counting by the evening. However, counting in Manu RD Block continued into the early hours of October 6.

Three-Layer Security Ensured Peaceful Counting

The State Election Commission deployed central security forces, Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles at counting venues.

Authorities arranged security in a three-layer system to maintain order during the counting process. Chakraborty said no security-related incident or disruption occurred inside any counting hall.

However, authorities reported minor tensions before counting in Salema, Tulasikhar and Kathalia RD Blocks.

Police and local administration officials intervened promptly and brought the situation under control.

Over 5.4 Lakh Votes Polled

The SEC also released detailed voter participation figures.

A total of 5,33,808 voters cast their ballots at polling stations. Another 6,628 voters used the EDV facility.

Therefore, the total number of votes polled reached 5,40,436, resulting in an overall turnout of 81.29 per cent.

Female voters recorded higher participation than male voters. A total of 2,70,897 women voted at polling stations, compared with 2,62,911 men.

South Tripura Records Highest Turnout

District-wise figures showed significant differences in voter participation.

South Tripura recorded the highest turnout at 86.08 per cent. Meanwhile, West Tripura recorded the lowest turnout at 72.64 per cent.

The strong overall turnout reflected substantial voter participation in the Village Committee elections.
