Tipra Motha Leads Candidate Count
According to preliminary figures released by the State Election Commission, Tipra Motha has fielded the highest number of candidates.
The party has submitted nominations for 4,371 candidates. The CPI(M) stands second with 2,484 candidates, while the BJP has fielded 1,974 candidates.
Other parties and candidates have also entered the electoral contest. IPFT has 486 candidates, Congress has 466, and the CPI has four candidates. Independent and other candidates account for 1,151 nominations.
However, the State Election Commission has not yet released the final consolidated figures. Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty said officials are still compiling the complete data as the nomination process concludes.
Voting Across 587 Village Committees
The election will take place on September 28 across 587 Village Committees under the TTAADC area.
Voters will choose representatives across 2,634 constituencies covering a total of 4,597 seats. Therefore, the election is expected to become an important political contest in Tripura’s tribal areas.
