TRLM’s ‘Samriddhi’ Campaign Earns National Recognition for ₹450 Crore SHG Credit Push

The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has received national recognition for its flagship financial inclusion campaign, ‘Samriddhi’. The initiative was showcased at a Central Level Coordination Conclave held in Hyderabad.

At the event, TRLM Chief Operating Officer Dipayan Ghosh delivered a detailed presentation. He explained how the mission strengthened credit linkages between banks and Self Help Groups (SHGs) across Tripura. As a result, thousands of rural women gained better access to institutional finance.

Two Phases, Clear Focus

TRLM implemented the Samriddhi campaign in two structured phases. First, Samriddhi 1.0 was launched in August and ran for 37 days. Later, Samriddhi 2.0 took place in December and continued for 45 days.

During both phases, TRLM conducted extensive outreach programmes. Officials coordinated closely with banks and SHGs. Moreover, they organised credit camps and review meetings to speed up loan processing.

Because of this structured planning, loan sanctions increased significantly. The second phase, in particular, recorded higher numbers than the first.

₹450 Crore Loan Sanctions Achieved

The campaign delivered strong financial outcomes. Altogether, TRLM secured loan sanctions worth ₹450.06 crore under the two phases.

During Samriddhi 1.0, banks sanctioned ₹198.44 crore. Subsequently, Samriddhi 2.0 achieved ₹251.43 crore in sanctions. This sharp rise reflected improved coordination and growing trust between banks and SHGs.

Importantly, the initiative expanded financial access for rural women-led groups. With institutional credit, SHG members can now invest in small businesses, agriculture, and allied activities. Therefore, the campaign has directly supported livelihood generation.

Strengthening SHG–Bank Linkages

The core objective of Samriddhi was to strengthen SHG-bank linkages. To achieve this, TRLM addressed documentation gaps and streamlined communication channels.

In addition, officials worked to build confidence among bankers. They emphasised timely repayments and transparent record-keeping by SHGs. Consequently, financial institutions showed greater willingness to sanction loans.

This coordinated approach ensured smoother credit flow at the grassroots level. Furthermore, it reduced delays that often discourage rural borrowers.

National-Level Appreciation

At the Hyderabad conclave, participants appreciated TRLM’s structured strategy and measurable results. Officials highlighted the campaign as a best-practice model for other states.

Notably, the phased approach and intensive engagement model attracted attention. Because of its success, Samriddhi is now being viewed as a replicable framework for enhancing financial inclusion nationwide.

Empowering Rural Women

Above all, the campaign reinforces TRLM’s commitment to women’s empowerment. Access to affordable credit remains essential for economic independence. Through Samriddhi, rural women gained the financial backing needed to expand income-generating activities.

As a result, household incomes are expected to improve across several districts. At the same time, stronger SHGs contribute to community-level economic growth.

Overall, the ₹450 crore credit drive marks a significant milestone for Tripura. With national recognition now secured, TRLM aims to further expand SHG-bank partnerships. Going forward, the mission plans to sustain momentum and deepen financial inclusion across rural areas.
