ULFA-I Accuses Assam Police: Allegations of Hiding Failures Through Innocent Youths’ Arrests

The Paresh Baruah-led ULFA-I alleges that the Assam police department is attempting to conceal its failures by unjustly arresting innocent youths in the state. The insurgent group issued a statement condemning the Assam police for what it describes as the “random picking up and detaining innocent youths” in connection with the recent grenade blasts in the state.

Condemnation of Assam Police Actions

In its statement, ULFA-I asserts that the Assam police’s actions of arresting innocent youths are an attempt to divert attention from their failures. The insurgent group strongly condemns these actions, describing them as condemnable.

ULFA-I’s Recent Attacks: Grenade Blasts in Assam

ULFA-I, under the leadership of Paresh Baruah, orchestrated grenade blasts near army camps in three districts of Assam – Tinsukia (November 22), Jorhat (December 14), and Sivasagar (December 09). The group continues to maintain strongholds in Jorhat, Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, and Charaideo districts in eastern Assam.

Assam Police Response: High-Level Meeting on Security Measures

To address the security concerns arising from ULFA-I’s recent attacks, a high-level meeting took place at the Assam police headquarters in Guwahati. The Assam Director General of Police (DGP) reportedly met with assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) from all districts to discuss and enhance security arrangements in the wake of the grenade blasts.

Tightened Security Across Assam: High Alert Status

In response to ULFA-I’s threats and recent attacks, all districts in Assam are on high alert, with intensified security measures. Security forces are conducting thorough patrolling along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. Additionally, security has been reinforced at the Assam police headquarters in Guwahati and the official residence of DGP GP Singh.

Tensions rise, and the Assam police’s actions, and ULFA-I’s allegations underscore the complex security landscape in the region.
