Violent Robbery Targets Jewellery Shop Owner in Manipur

In a shocking incident on January 13, Naorem Krishnadas, the 36-year-old owner of Muhindro Jewellery in Imphal West district, Manipur, was allegedly shot by suspected armed miscreants. The incident unfolded as Krishnadas and three others were returning to Kakching after closing their shop at Wahengbam Leikai.

As they reached Waithou Chingon, their vehicle was overtaken by unknown masked assailants armed with small arms. The armed men forced the occupants to stop, took control of the vehicle, and drove it towards Canchipur. During the ordeal, the miscreants reportedly looted gold valued at around Rs 20 lakh.

The situation turned dire when the armed assailants fired two rounds of bullets, one of which struck Krishnadas in his left thigh. Despite sustaining a bullet injury, Krishnadas and his companions managed to reach RIMS initially, where he was admitted before being transferred to Shija Hospital for further treatment.

Krishnadas, son of N Muhindro of Kakching Ningthou Leikai, is now undergoing medical care, and the incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. The swift and violent nature of the robbery raises concerns about the safety and security of businesses in the area.

Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the case, aiming to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind this brazen attack. The motive behind the targeted robbery and the identity of the masked men remain unclear at this point, adding an element of mystery to the unfolding investigation.
