Key Facts

West Tripura Administration Tightens Noise Restrictions

The district administration issued the guidelines during a coordination meeting at Hall No. 1 of Prajna Bhavan. Senior officials from various departments and representatives of local clubs and puja committees attended the meeting.

District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar urged organisers to cooperate with the administration to ensure a peaceful, orderly and safe Sharadotsav. He stressed that puja committees must follow the prescribed guidelines to protect devotees and visitors.

The administration warned that authorities would take legal action against violations of restrictions on loud music and DJ boxes in crowded areas. Officials highlighted the need to reduce excessive noise, particularly to protect children, elderly people and those with health concerns.

Emergency Lighting and Medical Facilities at Pandals

The district administration asked puja committees to prepare for possible power outages. Organisers should arrange backup power systems or inverters at pandals wherever possible.

If those arrangements are unavailable, committees must install emergency lights that can provide backup for at least four to five hours.

Medium-sized and large puja committees were also urged to arrange ambulances with temporary drivers, especially during peak hours over the next five to six days. These arrangements aim to ensure a quick response to medical emergencies.

Volunteers, CCTV Cameras and Helpline Numbers

Officials instructed puja organisers to deploy enough volunteers who know the local area. Volunteers should wear clearly identifiable caps or other visible identification marks so visitors can easily seek assistance.

Each club must install at least two to three CCTV cameras to monitor pandal interiors and entry and exit points. Organisers should also use bright fluorescent signboards, such as orange or light green, to mark entry and exit routes clearly.

Additionally, committees must prominently display emergency helpline numbers for the police, Agartala Municipal Corporation and the respective puja committees at pandal entrances and exits. These facilities will help visitors report missing children, missing persons or lost belongings and request assistance.

Police Assure Security During Durga Puja

West Tripura Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak said the police administration had completed the necessary preparations to maintain peace and security during the celebrations.

He also stated that the police had not received any complaints regarding extortion for puja subscriptions so far.

The administration urged clubs and organisers to coordinate with police and other departments throughout the festival to manage crowds and respond quickly to emergencies.

Agartala Traffic Restrictions From October 17

Traffic Superintendent Kanta Jangir announced that a ‘No Entry’ restriction would operate from October 17 to October 21, between 5 pm and 1 am.

Vehicles and individuals requiring movement during the restricted hours must carry valid passes issued by the competent authority. Her office will also release a detailed road map and traffic guidelines through the media.

Jangir advised residents and puja organisers not to leave bricks, sand or other construction materials on roads or in front of pandals. Such obstructions could disrupt traffic and delay emergency services.

Organisers were also asked to facilitate green corridors wherever necessary to allow ambulances and other emergency vehicles to move freely.

Importance for Agartala and West Tripura

Durga Puja attracts large crowds across Agartala and other parts of West Tripura. The administration’s measures seek to improve crowd management, control excessive noise and ensure that emergency services can reach people without unnecessary delays.

Residents and visitors should follow official traffic advisories, cooperate with volunteers and use designated entry and exit routes during the festivities.
