Women Personnel of Tripura Police Salute President Murmu

On Wednesday, when President Draupadi Murmu arrived in Tripura, women personnel of the state police gave her a guard of salute.
Murmu is on a two-day visit to Tripura for the first time after becoming the President.

Rashtrapati Bhavan tweeted along with pictures from the event, “With special respect, President Draupadi Murmu was given a guard of salute by women personnel of Tripura Police on her arrival in Agartala.”

Later Murmu inaugurated the National Law University (NLU) at Narsinghgarh in West Tripura district.

She also went to Durgabari tea garden located in Mohanpur sub-division and interacted with the workers there.

Ashtami Munda, one of the five-six women workers with whom the President interacted in the tea garden, asked, “Do you send your children to school? Send your children to school everyday. You are getting rice and other benefits under government schemes.”

Murmu also asked the tea garden workers whether they could identify Chief Minister Manik Saha and his MLA Krishnadhan Das, who were present there.

He asked the workers, “Can you recognize Chief Minister Manik Saha and MLA Krishnadhan Das.” To this the workers replied in ‘yes’.

He told the workers, “These are local people… if you have any demand or any problem then contact them.”

Das later told reporters that the talks between the two (the President and the workers) went very well.

“For the first time a President has come to the tea garden. Looks great.”
