Tripura BJP president Abhishek Debroy has warned party workers against activities that go against the interests of the organisation. He said the party would take disciplinary action if it finds members involved in anti-party activities.
Debroy made the remarks at a press conference at the BJP state headquarters in Agartala on September 15. His comments came amid reports of groupism and differences among party workers and mandal-level leaders.
The state BJP chief said the party has an established mechanism to address organisational problems. He also asked workers to raise their concerns through the appropriate party forums instead of allowing internal differences to affect the organisation.

Reports of Groupism Within the Party
Questions about internal differences have emerged following the recent restructuring of BJP organisational committees at the mandal level.
Some party workers reportedly expressed dissatisfaction after their names did not appear in newly formed committees. Debroy, however, clarified that not being included in a particular committee does not mean that a worker has left or been removed from the BJP.
He explained that the party regularly reconstitutes its organisational committees as part of its established process. Workers can continue to remain associated with the party even when they do not receive a position in a newly formed committee.
The BJP president said the formation of mandal committees follows the party’s organisational procedures. The process also receives oversight from the central leadership.
Party Has Mechanism to Resolve Differences
Debroy said the BJP would examine genuine organisational problems through its internal mechanism. He indicated that party leaders would address concerns related to the functioning of mandal committees.
The state BJP leadership has focused on strengthening communication between different levels of the organisation. District, mandal and booth-level workers form an important part of the party structure.
The BJP has also discussed the need for regular organisational meetings. Earlier in June, Debroy called for regular meetings at different levels to improve coordination and address local issues. He said stronger communication could help the organisation remain active at the grassroots level.
Warning Over Anti-Party Activities
While addressing concerns over groupism, Debroy also issued a clear warning about anti-party activities.
He said the party would not tolerate actions that work against its interests. Workers found engaging in such activities could face disciplinary measures.
The warning comes after the Tripura BJP took disciplinary action against two members in July over alleged violations of organisational discipline. The party temporarily suspended former District Council member Padmalochan Tripura from organisational responsibilities. It also expelled booth-level member Debashish Saha from primary membership over allegations of anti-party activities.
The latest statement therefore reinforces the BJP’s emphasis on organisational discipline.
Changes in Party Committees
The BJP reorganises its organisational committees as part of its regular internal process. Debroy said these changes should not automatically create the impression that workers have lost their association with the party.
He explained that workers can receive different responsibilities over time. A change in position does not necessarily mean that the party has removed an individual from its organisational structure.
The clarification comes as the Tripura BJP continues its organisational restructuring. The leadership has been working to strengthen the party network from the state level down to mandals and booths.
Debroy has previously spoken about the importance of reducing internal differences. In July, he said leaders and workers should set aside differences and focus on strengthening the organisation. He also referred to instances where current and former mandal leaders had differences.
BJP Announces Month-Long Programmes
During the September 15 press conference, Debroy also announced a month-long programme in Tripura to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
The programme will run from September 17 to October 17 across the state. It will include several social and organisational activities.
According to Debroy, the programme will feature drawing competitions, Namo Seva initiatives and activities involving Anganwadi centres. The party will also organise service-oriented programmes and a march carrying the “Seva Mashaal.”
The BJP state president said these activities would encourage public participation and promote awareness about social service programmes.
Focus on Organisational Discipline
The latest warning comes as the Tripura BJP continues to work on its organisational structure. The party has been holding meetings at different levels and reviewing its organisational activities.
Regular communication between leaders and workers can help parties address internal concerns. The BJP leadership has indicated that workers should use the party’s established channels when they have complaints about organisational matters.
At the same time, Debroy has drawn a distinction between internal disagreements and activities that the party considers harmful to its interests. The former can go through the party’s organisational mechanism, while the latter could lead to disciplinary action.
Road Ahead for Tripura BJP
The comments by the Tripura BJP chief highlight the party’s current focus on organisational discipline and internal coordination. Reports of differences have emerged during a period of committee restructuring, but Debroy has said the party has mechanisms to address such concerns.
His clarification that committee membership does not determine a worker’s continued association with the BJP also seeks to address concerns surrounding recent organisational changes.
The party will now continue its organisational programmes while preparing for upcoming political activities in the state. The leadership’s emphasis on discipline, regular meetings and grassroots coordination will remain important as the Tripura BJP manages internal organisational issues.
For now, Debroy’s message is clear: workers can raise genuine concerns through the party’s established mechanisms, but the leadership will consider activities against the organisation’s interests as a disciplinary matter.
