Tripura Govt Pushes Transport Infrastructure Projects Across State

Minister Reviews Ongoing Development Works

Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday said the state government is implementing several infrastructure projects to modernise the transport sector and improve public services in Tripura.

The minister made the remarks while chairing a high-level review meeting at the State Secretariat. During the meeting, officials discussed the progress, timelines and financial status of various projects under the Transport Department.

Senior officials from the Transport Department attended the meeting along with representatives from the Public Works Department, Rural Development Department, Housing Boards and several construction agencies.

Focus on Strengthening Transport Infrastructure

Chowdhury said the government has launched multiple initiatives to strengthen transport infrastructure across the state. These projects aim to improve administrative efficiency and provide better facilities to the public.

According to the minister, construction work for several District Transport Offices (DTOs) is currently underway in different districts. Authorities are also building a new office complex for the Transport Commissionerate in Agartala.

In addition, the government is developing modern motor stands in several locations to improve passenger convenience and traffic management.

The minister said these projects form part of a broader plan to transform the transport landscape of the state.

Detailed Review of Project Progress

During the meeting, the minister reviewed the status of each project in detail. Officials provided updates on construction progress, funding and implementation timelines.

Chowdhury emphasised that the timely completion of these projects will play a key role in strengthening the transport administration and improving services for citizens.

He also asked the concerned departments to maintain close coordination with implementing agencies to avoid delays.

Emphasis on Quality and Timely Completion

The minister directed the departments and construction agencies to speed up work while maintaining high construction standards.

He stressed that authorities must complete all projects within the stipulated timeline. At the same time, he said agencies should not compromise on quality during implementation.

Chowdhury also instructed officials to closely monitor ongoing works and resolve any issues that could slow down progress.

Ensuring Transparency and Accountability

The minister further asked officials to maintain proper documentation for every project. He instructed departments to submit Utilization Certificates on time after completing the works.

According to him, proper financial reporting will help maintain transparency and accountability in the implementation process.

Chowdhury said the government will continue to monitor the progress of all projects closely. The review mechanism will ensure that infrastructure initiatives move forward efficiently.

Officials believe these projects will strengthen the transport network and improve public services across the state in the coming years.
