Vice President Praises Tripura University at 14th Convocation Ceremony

VP Highlights Academic Growth and Innovation

C. P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday lauded the progress of Tripura University, describing it as a vibrant centre of teaching, research and innovation. He made the remarks while addressing the university’s 14th Convocation Ceremony held at the campus in Agartala.

The Vice President arrived in Tripura on Saturday to attend the convocation event. The ceremony brought together graduating students, faculty members and parents to celebrate academic achievements.

During his address, Radhakrishnan said the convocation reflected pride, dedication and the collective efforts of students and their families.

First Visit to Tripura as Vice President

Radhakrishnan said the trip marked his first official visit to Tripura after assuming office as the Vice President of India. Over the past two days, he travelled across several northeastern states.

He mentioned that he had visited Nagaland and Mizoram before arriving in Tripura. He expressed happiness at visiting the state and described it as a land rich in heritage and traditions.

The Vice President also referred to his conversation with the state’s Governor, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu. According to him, the Governor highlighted how Tripura, though small in size, holds immense cultural and historical richness.

Appreciates Cultural Heritage and Temple Development

Radhakrishnan praised the cultural diversity of the state, noting its blend of royal heritage, spirituality and indigenous traditions. He said Tripura’s ancient temples and vibrant tribal customs represent a unique cultural identity.

Earlier in the day, he visited the revered Tripura Sundari Temple. He appreciated the development work taking place at the temple through the joint efforts of the state and central governments.

Encourages Research and Academic Excellence

The Vice President expressed satisfaction over the academic progress of Tripura University. He said the institution has steadily strengthened its reputation in teaching, research and innovation.

According to him, education should go beyond earning degrees. He emphasised that universities must encourage research activities that lead to innovation and practical solutions.

Radhakrishnan commended the university for increasing its number of quality research publications and expanding funded research projects. He also appreciated the growing focus on intellectual property creation and participation in national research platforms.

He noted that such initiatives reflect the university’s rising presence in India’s academic and research ecosystem.

Recognises Achievements of Faculty and Alumni

The Vice President highlighted the contributions of the university’s faculty members and alumni. He said several faculty members have earned global recognition for their research work.

He also acknowledged the achievements of the university’s alumni, who are working successfully in various professional fields.

Radhakrishnan expressed confidence that many more success stories will emerge from the institution in the coming years.

Northeast Transformation Under Modi Government

Radhakrishnan also spoke about the transformation taking place in the northeastern region of India. He said the region has witnessed significant development in infrastructure and connectivity over the past decade.

He credited the leadership of Narendra Modi for unlocking the potential of the Northeast through focused development initiatives.

He pointed out that travel between distant cities has become easier due to improved connectivity. As an example, he said travelling from Agartala to Chennai was once extremely difficult but can now be completed within the same day.

Dignitaries Present at the Ceremony

Several dignitaries attended the convocation ceremony along with the Vice President. These included Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu and Manik Saha.

Shyamal Das and other senior university officials were also present at the event.

The ceremony celebrated the achievements of graduating students and highlighted the university’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
