According to the minister, the review process helps departments identify delays and take corrective measures. It also allows officials to assess whether government programmes are delivering the intended benefits.
Timely Delivery of Benefits Remains a Priority
The minister emphasised that government schemes must reach eligible people without unnecessary delays. He said the meeting examined the implementation status of schemes managed by the Animal Resources Development, Fisheries and SC Welfare departments.
The review also covered both Centrally Sponsored Schemes and programmes funded by the state government. Officials discussed progress, achievements and shortcomings from the previous financial year.
These assessments help departments identify areas that require greater attention. Moreover, they provide an opportunity to improve coordination between district authorities, departmental officials and elected representatives.
Das said such review meetings take place twice a year in every district as part of the government’s regular monitoring process.
Focus on Increasing Fish, Meat, Egg and Milk Production
Alongside welfare schemes, the meeting focused on improving production across key agriculture-linked sectors in Khowai district.
Discussions covered the current production levels of fish, meat, eggs and milk. Participants also explored additional measures that could help increase output.
The Animal Resources Development and Fisheries sectors play an important role in rural livelihoods. Improved production can create opportunities for farmers, fish producers and livestock rearers while supporting the availability of food products.
However, the minister did not announce specific production targets or new financial allocations during the meeting. The discussions centred on reviewing the existing situation and identifying ways to improve performance.
Elected Representatives and Officials Participate
The meeting brought together elected representatives and officials from across the district. Attendees included the district’s Sabhadhipati and Sah-Sabhadhipati, MLAs, chairpersons of various Panchayat Samitis, district-level officials and senior representatives of the three departments.
Das said the views and suggestions shared by elected representatives and officials would be considered before taking decisions.
Their feedback is expected to help authorities identify local challenges and improve the implementation of government schemes. It can also support better coordination between administrative bodies and the communities they serve.
