Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Wednesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would accelerate development in tribal areas if it forms the government in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

He made the statement while addressing an election rally at Sambhuram Para under Bodhjungnagar-Wakhanagar. During the event, he campaigned in support of BJP candidate Ranabir Debbarma.

Nath highlighted several development initiatives and said the BJP government has improved housing, drinking water supply, road connectivity, and self-help group (SHG) support across the state. He added that these efforts have directly benefited tribal communities.

Moreover, he shared local development data from Sambhuram Para. Out of 749 families, authorities provide free rice to 300 families. In addition, 129 families have received government houses, while officials have sanctioned more than 183 new houses. He also stated that the village now has full drinking water coverage.

Furthermore, Nath compared the BJP government’s performance with previous administrations. He said the government has provided houses to 4.54 lakh families in the last seven years. In contrast, earlier governments delivered only 78,000 houses over 35 years.

He also pointed out that the government supplies 5 kg of free rice to 24 lakh people. At the same time, the number of self-help groups has increased significantly from 4,160 before 2018 to 54,000 now.

Additionally, he said financial assistance to SHGs has risen sharply. The government has provided ₹763 crore compared to ₹28 crore earlier. As a result, around 1.8 lakh women have become “Lakhpati Didis.”

Nath emphasized that these achievements became possible due to the “double-engine government” at the Centre and in the state. He further stated that if BJP forms the TTAADC administration, it will create a “triple-engine government,” which will speed up development projects.

Highlighting tribal welfare, he said the government has recognized and honored tribal individuals with prestigious awards like the Padma Shri. He also noted that authorities are spending around ₹1,400 crore from the World Bank on tribal development projects.

In addition, he mentioned that the government has increased social pensions for Samajpatis. He argued that these steps have improved dignity and support for tribal communities.

Meanwhile, Nath criticized the previous CPI(M) government and accused it of neglecting tribal rights. He claimed that the BJP has ensured protection, development, and respect for janajati communities.

Finally, he urged voters to support the BJP in the upcoming TTAADC elections, stating that continued development depends on their mandate.
