Tripura Aims to Attract ₹1 Lakh Crore in Investments
Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha expressed confidence that the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 could attract investment proposals worth nearly ₹1 lakh crore.
He made the statement while chairing a high-level review meeting at the Hapania International Fair Grounds on Sunday. According to him, the conclave will become a landmark event for promoting industrial growth and attracting both domestic and international investors.
Conclave to Boost Employment and Economic Growth
The Chief Minister said investment plays a crucial role in creating employment opportunities and improving people’s quality of life.
Moreover, he said fresh investments would help increase Tripura’s per capita income and strengthen the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). Therefore, the government is giving top priority to the successful organisation of the conclave.
Dr. Saha also described the event as the largest business promotion initiative ever organised in Tripura.
‘Team Tripura’ Model Behind Preparations
The Chief Minister credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inspiring a new development-focused approach across the country.
Furthermore, he recalled the successful organisation of the G-20 meetings and the North Eastern Council (NEC) Plenary in Tripura under the spirit of “Team Tripura.” He expressed confidence that the same collaborative approach would ensure the success of the business conclave.
Focus on High-Growth Sectors
Dr. Saha highlighted several sectors with strong investment potential in Tripura.
These include healthcare, education, information technology, tourism, transport, logistics, renewable energy, food processing, real estate, and industries based on tea, rubber, and agarwood.
In addition, he said these sectors offer significant opportunities for investors while creating jobs for local youth.
Strong Response After Previous Conclave
The Chief Minister said the previous edition of the business conclave produced encouraging results.
Last year, the state signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth around ₹30,000 crore. Meanwhile, projects involving investments of nearly ₹8,000 crore are already under implementation.
He expressed hope that this year’s conclave would generate even greater investor interest.
International Participation Expected
Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia will inaugurate the conclave along with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and members of the state cabinet.
More than 500 delegates from India and abroad are expected to attend the event.
Representatives from Bangladesh, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, the Maldives, Nepal, and Uzbekistan have already confirmed their participation. Additionally, Russia and Indonesia have shown interest in joining the conclave.
Exhibitions, MoUs and Business Meetings Planned
The conclave will feature more than 20 thematic exhibition stalls presented by state government departments and Central Public Sector Undertakings.
Besides the exhibitions, the programme will include business-to-government (B2G) meetings, sector-specific presentations, policy dialogues, round-table discussions, and the signing of investment MoUs.
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is the industry partner for the event. Meanwhile, Invest India is providing institutional support.
Chief Minister Reviews Preparations
Before the review meeting, Dr. Saha inspected the exhibition stalls under construction at the Hapania International Fair Grounds.
He also offered suggestions to officials to ensure smooth arrangements for delegates and exhibitors.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, Director General of Police Anurag, Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte, Principal Secretary Shantanu, MLA Meenarani Sarkar, and senior officials from various departments.
