Tripura University celebrated its 40th Foundation Day on October 2, 2026, with plans to strengthen its position in higher education, research and innovation. The university marked the occasion at the Maharaja Bir Bikram auditorium in Agartala. The event brought together political leaders, academicians, researchers, faculty members and students.
Tripura Chief Minister Professor Dr Manik Saha attended the celebration. Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman, Chancellor Ahmed Javed and Vice-Chancellor Professor Debabrata Das also joined the programme.

Chief Minister Highlights Education and Research

A major announcement came from Bandhan Group Chairperson Chandrashekhar Ghosh. He committed Rs 20 crore towards establishing a Centre of Excellence at Tripura University.
Vice-Chancellor Das said the proposed centre would create new opportunities for students. It will also support entrepreneurship and professional training.
The university plans to extend these opportunities beyond its campus. Young people across Tripura could also benefit from the proposed training facilities.
The initiative aims to connect academic learning with practical skills. It also seeks to encourage students to explore entrepreneurship and emerging career opportunities.

Tripura University Signs Five MoUs
The Vice-Chancellor announced that Tripura University has signed two Memorandums of Understanding with academic institutions and three with industry partners.
These agreements aim to strengthen cooperation in education, research and professional development.
Academic partnerships can create opportunities for student exchange, collaborative research and knowledge sharing. Industry collaborations can also help students understand workplace requirements and gain practical exposure.

Chancellor Stresses Artificial Intelligence and Technology

Professor Rajiv Mohan Pant, Vice-Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar, attended the event. Professor Rakesh Singhvi, Vice-Chancellor of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, also joined the celebration.
Representatives from the Central University of Haryana attended the programme as well.
