Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik on Sunday said that the 2023 assembly elections will lay the foundation stone of ‘Vibrant Tripura’. He urged the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and Congress workers to join the mission in the state.

Assembly elections are due in Tripura in early 2023. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bhowmik said at a rally held in West Tripura’s Bambootia, “The 2018 election was like a liberation war to free Tripura from the Left rule and the 2023 election under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” Will be there to lay the foundation stone of a vibrant Tripura.”

The BJP had defeated the CPI(M)-led Left Front, which had been in power in the state for 25 years, in the 2018 Tripura Assembly elections.

Bhowmik said, “You will not be able to fulfill your dreams by being associated with the Left parties or the Congress. You have to decide in whose hands your future generations are safe- Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi. Come join the BJP to make a new beginning for your family as well as the state.”

Union Minister of State for Social Empowerment and Social Justice Bhowmik alleged that poor farmers could not sell paddy during the CPI(M) rule.

He said, “The procurement of paddy started in Tripura only after the BJP came to power in 2018. This year, the state has set a target of procuring 35,000 metric tonnes of paddy at minimum support price (MSP) to double farmers’ income. Besides this, around 2,500 poor farmers of Bambutia are getting Rs 6,000 every year under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.”

Bhowmik claimed that the BJP does not believe in depriving people of their legitimate rights, be it Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi or anything else, but it was the CPI(M) which denied people their rights for a long time. Kept ‘deprived’ of.
