In a pivotal meeting at Manipur CM’s Secretariat, Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Union Minister Gangapuram Kishan Reddy delved into the region’s development under 100 percent central funding.

Central Funding for North East Special Infrastructure Development Schemes

The discussion highlighted the implementation of the North East Special Infrastructure Development Schemes (NESIDS), a new central scheme fully funded by the Government of India. This initiative aims to address infrastructure gaps in identified sectors, contributing to the overall development of the region.

Financial Allocations: PM-DevINE Outlay

Manipur’s commitment to the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North-East Region (PM-DevINE) is substantial. The allocated outlay till March 31, 2026, is Rs. 561 crores. Further financial breakdown includes Rs. 175.04 crore for Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) approved post-April 1, 2022, and Rs. 171.65 crore in-principle approved post the same date. Notably, the balance outlay for new projects stands at Rs. 214.31 crore.

Submission Protocols for Project Approval

To expedite the approval process, the Chief Minister emphasized the timely submission of DPRs for in-principle approved projects post-April 1, 2022. The state is urged to confirm compliance with essential requirements, including the creation of administrative structures and the updating of data layers on the PM Gati Shaki National Master Plan portal.

Ongoing Projects and Future Proposals

The comprehensive review encompassed ongoing projects related to the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), NESIDS, and North-Eastern Council (NEC). Discussions extended to new proposals focused on enhancing connectivity, promoting travel and tourism, and strategizing to bolster the state’s economy.

In his Twitter update, Chief Minister Biren Singh shared insights into the discussions, highlighting the commitment to fortify Manipur’s economic landscape through collaborative efforts in key developmental sectors.
