Abandoned Newborn Rescued by Women of Nabin Tilla Near Sekerkote Railway Station

A group of women from Nabin Tilla near Sekerkote railway station rescued an abandoned newborn on Wednesday night. Around 8:30 PM, several homemakers heard the sudden and unusual cries of a baby. Therefore, they stepped outside to check what was happening.

As they walked toward the sound, they eventually found a newborn lying on the cold ground beside a house. The infant was unclothed and shivering, which made the situation even more urgent.

Immediate Help From Local Women

The women reacted quickly. Five to six of them rushed to the child and picked the baby up gently. They wrapped the infant in warm clothes to protect it from the cold. Additionally, they arranged warm milk to provide comfort. Their quick action, therefore, prevented the situation from becoming worse.

Meanwhile, the men from the neighbourhood also gathered at the spot. They were shocked to see the helpless newborn resting in one of the women’s arms.

Authorities Informed and Baby Shifted to Safety

Soon after, the residents contacted the police and the Fire Brigade. The officials arrived promptly and took charge of the situation. Moreover, after assessing the infant’s condition, the police informed the government-run children’s home in Abhay Nagar, Agartala.

Later, the infant was safely shifted to the children’s home, where proper medical care and protection were arranged. As a result, the newborn is now under secure supervision.

Rescuer Shares Her Emotional Experience

One of the rescuers, 43-year-old Anjali Ghosh, spoke to the media. She is a mother of three, and she strongly condemned the act of abandoning a newborn. Moreover, she said she looks at every infant as her own child.

She explained that, unless they had come out in time, dogs or jackals might have harmed the baby. Thankfully, their timely action prevented a tragedy. Finally, she prayed for the newborn’s long and healthy life.

Community Reacts With Praise and Concern

The incident has deeply moved the local community. Residents praised the women of Nabin Tilla for acting with courage and compassion. Additionally, many expressed anger toward the parents who left the newborn in such danger.

Furthermore, locals hope that the authorities will investigate the case thoroughly. The rescue also highlighted the strong sense of responsibility and motherhood within the community. As a result, the women’s quick and united response saved a precious life and inspired many.
