Dirty Coaches & Unpleasant Travel Experience

Passengers say the coaches remain dirty throughout the journey, with a foul smell and dust inside compartments. The washroom area smells extremely bad, forcing many travelers to avoid standing near it.
“Even standing near the washroom is difficult. The smell is unbearable,” said a frequent passenger traveling from Kumarghat to Agartala.

Commuters also point out that cobwebs and spiders hang from the ceiling, which reflects a complete lack of cleaning efforts. Many describe the experience as troubling and unsafe for regular travelers.

Irregular Timing & No Proper Monitoring

The DEMU train rarely follows a fixed schedule, frustrating passengers who rely on timely travel for work and studies. Travelers say the train often arrives late between stations, while railway authorities fail to monitor or intervene.
According to commuters, railway staff rarely inspect the train, and no visible system ensures punctual operations.

Overcrowding Due to Insufficient Coaches

The train runs with fewer coaches than needed for daily demand. As a result, many passengers stand for long stretches, especially during peak hours. Office-goers, students, and daily wage earners struggle the most, as they often cannot find seating during the Tripura stretch.

Passengers Seek Immediate Action

Despite repeated appeals, railway authorities have not addressed the issues. Passengers now urge the Northeast Frontier Railway to improve cleanliness, add more coaches, and introduce strict supervision to maintain schedules and hygiene.
Commuters stress that the Agartala–Karimganj route serves thousands of daily users and requires urgent attention to ensure safe and comfortable travel.
