Amit Jain’s Institute of Diabetic Foot & Wound Care, an eponymous podiatry wing of Brindhavvan Areion Hospital, Bengaluru, that was established in the year 2017 and named after Dr (Prof) Amit Jain, popularly known as “The Indian Foot Doctor”, as a mark of respect for his known phenomenal innovative work in diabetic foot from India, in its 10th year, established a new wing, a dedicated geriatric foot clinic known as Amit Jain’s Geriatric Foot Care Clinic at the hospital on 21st January.
This new clinic shall function on Tuesday and Saturday within the Institute. With raising population of geriatric patients who are getting affected with different foot problems, there was a need for this new dedicated wing in the hospital that provides specialized care for senior citizens with foot problems especially those affected with diabetes, states Dr Kishore Kumar, Director of Brindhavvan Areion Hospital.
The geriatric patients often have difficulty in inspecting their feet, decrease in their vision, arthritis issues, risk of frequent fall and associated other comorbidities that requires a special care and support. Hence a dedicated eponymous wing of its kind was established within this Podiatry Institute that functions on Amit Jain’s model for diabetic foot, published in International Surgery Journal years ago, states Dr (Prof) Amit Jain, Original Founder of Modern and Super-Modern Diabetic Foot Surgery from India and Chief Consultant Podiatric Surgeon.
Last year at same time, the Amit Jain’s Centre for Acid Therapy was established and this year the Geriatric Foot Care Cwas inaugurated after pilot testing it, states Dr Apoorva HC, In charge of the wings at Amit Jain’s Institute of Diabetic Foot, Brindhavvan Areion Hospital.
The other distinct wings of the institute like the Amit Jain’s Offloading Clinic, Amit Jain’s Centre for Apitherapy, etc also celebrated its anniversary on Jan 21st, that marks the birthday of Dr (Prof) Amit Jain, on whom this institute & its wings were named as an honor for his dedicated original innovative principle and practice on diabetic foot, which is well known to be first of its kind in field of diabetic foot/ Podiatry. This accolade has already been enshrined in Grand Asian book of World Records earlier, states Dr Suresh Kumar, another Director of Brindhavvan Areion Hospital.
With distinct epithets like The Indian Foot Doctor, The Rocking Doc, The Doc who rocked, etc, Dr (Prof) Amit Jain, is stated to be the youngest doctor to have given original principle and practice in diabetic foot and also is the youngest Father of a Field (Podiatry) that is registered in different world record books. This podiatry institute of excellence also has set a World Record of being the Centre with Highest Original Innovations in the world last year and is enshrined in World Records Book of India and India’s World Record
