Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Telangana on October 4 to attend events related to the dairy sector and a medical institution. His programme includes the foundation stone ceremony for the Sabar Dairy Project in Medak district and an event connected with Amul’s first modern dairy plant in the state.
Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy announced the visit and outlined the proposed programmes.
The dairy project is expected to strengthen Telangana’s milk processing infrastructure and create opportunities for dairy farmers.
Amit Shah to Attend Dairy Project Event in Toopran
Shah will travel to Toopran in Medak district, where he is scheduled to attend the foundation stone ceremony for the Sabar Dairy Project at Urja Industrial Park.
Sabar Dairy is associated with the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand.
The project forms part of efforts to expand dairy processing facilities in Telangana.
The proposed facility will process five lakh litres of milk per day. It will also manufacture several dairy products, including curd, buttermilk, lassi, paneer, ice cream and ghee.
The project aims to expand milk procurement and processing capacity while supporting dairy farmers in the region.
Amul Plant to Strengthen Telangana’s Dairy Sector
The proposed dairy facility will have an initial milk processing capacity of five lakh litres per day.
Its planned production capacity includes:
- 200 metric tonnes of curd per day
- 30 kilolitres of buttermilk per day
- 30 kilolitres of lassi per day
- 10 metric tonnes of paneer per day
- 50 kilolitres of ice cream per day
- Five metric tonnes each of bakery products and ghee per day
The ice cream production capacity can expand to one lakh litres per day in the future.
The facility will also manufacture fresh sweets, with scope to increase production capacity.
Officials said the project would support value addition in the dairy sector and create opportunities across milk procurement, processing and distribution.
Shah to Attend Prathima Medical Institute’s Silver Jubilee
Apart from the dairy programme, Shah will visit Karimnagar to attend the silver jubilee celebrations of Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences.
During the event, he is scheduled to unveil a commemorative pylon and lay the foundation stone for the proposed Prathima Deemed University building.
He will also visit a photo exhibition showcasing the institution’s journey and address students.
The programme will mark 25 years of the medical institution’s activities.
Centre Highlights Cooperative Sector Support
Kishan Reddy also highlighted financial assistance provided to Telangana through the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
He said the corporation had sanctioned around Rs 1.16 lakh crore to the state over the past 12 years.
The assistance includes funding for paddy procurement during the Kharif and Rabi seasons.
According to the minister, the NCDC sanctioned Rs 22,700 crore for the 2026-27 Rabi season. The funding aims to support agricultural procurement and strengthen cooperative activities.
He also referred to the National Cooperative Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which expands the scope of funding across the cooperative sector.
White Revolution 2.0 and Dairy Development
The dairy project also aligns with the Centre’s White Revolution 2.0 initiative, launched in September 2024.
The programme aims to strengthen dairy cooperatives, improve market access and increase milk procurement through cooperative networks.
It targets the establishment of 75,000 new dairy cooperative societies across India by 2029, including 1,525 in Telangana.
The initiative also seeks to create employment opportunities and improve the participation of women in the dairy sector.

Shah’s visit will cover Medak and Karimnagar districts, with programmes focused on dairy infrastructure, healthcare education and cooperative development.
The Sabar Dairy Project is expected to expand milk processing capacity and provide additional opportunities for dairy producers.
The visit will also bring attention to the role of cooperative institutions in supporting farmers and strengthening rural economic activities in Telangana.
