In a concerted effort, state and central forces have successfully uncovered a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives in Manipur’s hill and valley districts. The joint operations, spanning the past 36 hours, were strategically conducted in the vulnerable areas surrounding Laiching Hill, Imphal East District, B Phainom in Thoubal district, and Koubru Ridge near Boljang of Kangpokpi districts.
Targeted Operations Yield Results
Acting on credible intelligence indicating the presence of war-like stores, the joint teams initiated operations with precision. The foothills of Laiching Hill in Imphal East District witnessed an intensive search, encompassing Pourabi village. The thorough verification process involving 150 houses and 323 individuals resulted in the discovery of a substantial arsenal, including one SMG carbine, one 9 mm pistol, and two hand grenades.
In the broader area of B Phainom, collaborative efforts by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police led to the recovery of one 81 mm Improvised Mortar, one Single Barrel Rifle, two grenades, ammunition, and other war-like stores.
Koubru Ridge near Boljang of Kangpokpi District was another focus area where the security forces achieved notable success. Here, the recovery included one SLR with magazine, one 9 mm Pistol, 6 Hand Grenades, and ten 7.62 mm rounds.
Following the successful operations, the recovered items have been promptly handed over to the respective Police stations. The collaboration between state and central forces demonstrates a proactive approach in addressing security concerns in Manipur, particularly in the fringe and vulnerable regions.
