Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has handed over appointment letters to 5,815 newly selected candidates. With this, the total number of Assam government jobs created during his administration has reached 1,41,194. The ceremony took place at the Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex. Thousands of young people attended the event, hoping to begin a new chapter in their careers. The occasion marked another major milestone in the government’s effort to ensure fair and transparent recruitment.
Sarma said the new jobs show how the administration aims to create opportunities for youth across the state. He also noted that Assam has moved away from older, unreliable recruitment systems. According to him, the present system is clean and merit-based. As a result, applicants now trust the process and compete with more confidence.
Moreover, the Chief Minister highlighted that the new recruits will strengthen key government departments. Many of them will join the Assam Police and various directorates under the Home Department.

Transparent Recruitment Drives Assam Government Jobs
Sarma explained that increasing the strength of the Assam Police remains a priority for the state. He said that a strong force improves daily policing, public safety and emergency response. Through transparent recruitment, the government selected 5,818 youth for positions under the Home Department. This number includes police posts as well as roles in other directorates.
He added that the entire process followed strict rules. Each candidate went through several layers of verification. Because of this careful approach, the final list reflects merit, not influence. This clarity has encouraged thousands of young candidates to apply every year.
Furthermore, Sarma pointed out that his government has created more than one lakh jobs within a short time. He said that this achievement shows the determination of all departments involved in the selection process. Their combined effort helped the administration meet its promise of providing employment to a large number of youth.
Support for Youth and Improved Public Services
The new jobs will bring relief to families across the state. Many young people waited months for stable employment. Now, they will enter police units, administrative offices and support wings of various directorates. Their addition will help improve overall service delivery.
The Chief Minister urged the recruits to work with honesty and discipline. He reminded them that each government employee represents the state. Their behaviour, he said, shapes the public’s trust in government systems. Police recruits, in particular, will play a vital role in maintaining law and order. They will also support community safety and help during disasters.
Additionally, Sarma mentioned that the government continues to focus on creating more jobs in education, health and infrastructure. These sectors need fresh talent, and new appointments will help the state take steady steps toward development.
Transparent Governance Remains the Government’s Foundation
Sarma said that transparency remains the core of all recruitment efforts. The shift to digital applications, online tests and organised verification has reduced corruption. Since the system is clear and systematic, candidates no longer fear hidden influence or unfair selection.
He also said that this model has become an example for several other states. Many of them are trying to follow Assam’s recruitment methods. With continuous improvement, the government hopes to make the process even stronger in the coming years.
The event ended with Sarma congratulating the new recruits. He encouraged them to serve Assam with sincerity and dedication. With the appointment of 5,815 candidates and the total number of Assam government jobs reaching 1,41,194, the state continues to move forward on a path built on fairness, service and opportunity.
