In a recent turn of events, Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh has vehemently denied allegations made by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, who claimed that vehicles and posters associated with Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra were attacked by unidentified individuals in Lakhimpur district, Assam.
Taking to the social media platform X, DGP GP Singh addressed Kharge’s claims by tagging an earlier post where the Congress president had raised concerns about the alleged attacks. In his response, the Assam DGP stated that there has been no targeting of any vehicles belonging to political parties, let alone the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
“Dear Sir, There has been no targeting of any vehicle of any political party, less so of the Yatra. @assampolice has made elaborate arrangements for security and law and order for the Yatra throughout the state. The Yatra has peacefully entered Arunachal Pradesh after the first leg in Assam,” reassured DGP GP Singh in his social media post.
The controversy arises amidst political tensions and the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi, aimed at connecting with the people and highlighting issues of national importance. However, the denial from the Assam DGP raises questions about the accuracy of the allegations made by the Congress chief.
Assuring the public of the Assam Police’s commitment to maintaining security and order during the Yatra, DGP GP Singh’s statement implies that adequate measures were in place to safeguard the political procession as it traversed through Assam.
It is essential to note that the conflicting narratives from political leaders and law enforcement authorities add complexity to the situation. The differing accounts highlight the importance of unbiased investigations to determine the facts surrounding the alleged attacks on Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra vehicles.
As the political landscape continues to be marred by such incidents, it becomes crucial for authorities to ensure transparency and provide accurate information to the public. The citizens deserve a clear understanding of the events surrounding political activities, allowing them to form informed opinions and make decisions based on verified facts.
The Assam DGP’s firm denial of the alleged attacks on Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra vehicles adds a layer of intrigue to the ongoing political discourse. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how authorities will address and investigate these allegations to ascertain the truth behind the reported incidents.
