Assam’s Director General of Police (DGP) Harmeet Singh visited Dhubri district on June 17, 2025, where he issued a stern warning to troublemakers and directed a significant police reshuffle.
The visit follows a recent rise in communal tensions and law-and-order challenges in the sensitive border district.
High-Level Police Meeting in Dhubri
DGP Harmeet Singh chaired a high-level meeting at the Dhubri SP office conference hall. Top officials, including the Superintendent of Police and other senior officers, were present to review the district’s current security landscape.
Singh emphasized that disruptors of peace will not be tolerated. He added that swift action will be taken against anyone attempting to disturb Assam’s social harmony.
“This is not the time to create division. Assam will not allow its unity to be broken by a few miscreants,” Singh asserted during the meeting.

Dhubri, being a border district adjoining Bangladesh, has long posed security challenges. DGP Singh instructed local law enforcement to enhance surveillance, especially along sensitive pockets and border areas.
