Cachar, Aug 23, 2025, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya chaired a comprehensive review meeting in Cachar district’s Barak Valley region on Saturday. The session brought together senior officials, district administrators. And, department heads to evaluate the progress of development schemes, security measures, and health initiatives.
Governor Focuses on Development Projects
Governor Acharya stressed the importance of timely completion of ongoing infrastructure projects. He directed officials to ensure roads, schools, and public facilities are built with quality standards. Development in rural areas received special focus, with instructions to speed up connectivity projects. And, strengthen welfare measures for marginalized communities.
Also, the Governor noted that progress must be visible at the grassroots. He highlighted that schemes under rural employment and social welfare. Therefore, should directly reach the intended beneficiaries without bureaucratic delays.
Security Situation in Barak Valley Reviewed
During the meeting, Governor Acharya reviewed the prevailing law and order situation in Cachar. Police and district officials briefed him on security arrangements in border areas and steps taken to maintain peace in the region.
He urged coordination between civil and police administration to curb illegal activities and ensure public safety. Furthermore, he also emphasized vigilance along inter-state and international borders, given Cachar’s strategic location in Barak Valley.
