Dumduma Town:A three-day poetry recitation workshop titled “Ami Pohor Bichari Jao” was held from 15th to 17th July, 2025 at the Doomdooma Lekhika Samaroh Bhavan, organized jointly by the Chir Seuj Moina Parijat, Rupai branch, a wing of the 75-year-old Sadou Asom Moina Parijat, and the Assam Recitation and Cultural Council, Doomdooma-Rupai branch.
On the first day, the workshop was inaugurated by Kakali Devi Baruah, President of Chir Seuj Moina Parijat, and Jonali Saikia Deka, President of the Doomdooma-Rupai Recitation and Cultural Council, by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
The participants received training from Jonali Saikia Deka, Sangeeta Baruah Deka, Mandira Baruah, Junumoni Bora, and Nibharani Das, with assistance from Dipshikha Moran, the Director of Chir Seuj Moina Parijat.
The concluding ceremony took place on 17th July, which began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Pranita Sandikoi, former President of Chir Seuj Moina Parijat. The event was anchored by Sangeeta Baruah Deka, Secretary of the Doomdooma-Rupai branch of the Assam Recitation and Cultural Council.
At the start of the ceremony, a condolence resolution was passed in memory of Arunava Gogoi, a young member of Chir Seuj Moina Parijat, who had passed away unexpectedly at the age of 9. The organizers expressed deep sorrow at this untimely loss.
Renowned poet Indu Dutta Uzir recited a self-composed poem for children. Addressing the young participants, President Kakali Devi Baruah emphasized the importance of clear and correct pronunciation through recitation and encouraged them to pursue continuous practice.
Vice-President Junumoni Bora mentioned that engaging in such art forms helps keep children away from mobile phones. Advisor Tutumoni Moran urged parents to actively support their children in every step. Director Daisy Dolly Gogoi led the certificate distribution program, where 19 trainees were awarded certificates.
The trainees also performed Guru Vandana and group recitations. Significantly, each invited guest was welcomed with handmade cards and potted plants prepared by the children themselves. Parents of Chir Seuj Moina Parijat members also offered homemade traditional sweets and snacks to the guests.
Each child of the branch presented their performances during the event. Finally, Secretary Mrinali Bora Moran extended the vote of thanks with a traditional Assamese shawl and concluded the event with the Assamese anthem.
