A senior CRPF officer said, “Praneswar displayed exceptional courage and commitment during the operation. His sacrifice will never be forgotten. Operations in the region have been intensified to ensure the perpetrators are neutralised.”

Mourning in Assam’s Kokrajhar

Back home in Kokrajhar, news of Praneswar’s martyrdom has left his family, neighbours, and the entire community in shock and sorrow. Locals gathered outside his residence, offering prayers and support to his grieving family.

His father expressed pride but immense grief. “My son wanted to serve the country and fight extremists. He achieved his goal but paid the ultimate price. We are devastated but proud,” he said with tears in his eyes.

The Assam government has assured full support to the bereaved family. State leaders, including Kokrajhar’s local MLAs, have visited the family to offer condolences and promised all possible assistance.

Praneswar Koch, according to his colleagues, was one of the most committed men in his unit. “He was always ready to volunteer for any dangerous assignment. His loss is deeply personal for us,” shared a fellow commando who served alongside him.
