The Assam Assembly has passed a resolution to rename Dibrugarh Airport as Bhupen Hazarika Dibrugarh Airport. The state government made the decision to honor the legendary singer, composer, and cultural icon who shaped Assam’s modern identity.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the renaming was a long-overdue tribute. “Dr. Bhupen Hazarika gave a voice to our land. Naming an important airport after him is a symbol of our respect and cultural pride,” he said.
