A high-level BJP delegation visited Asarambari in the Khowai district on Monday. This came a day after an alleged Asarambari Tipra Motha attack on BJP workers occurred during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat program.

The BJP claimed that the attack was orchestrated by supporters of the opposition Tipra Motha party. The incident has heightened the political temperature in the region ahead of upcoming elections, with both parties trading serious accusations.

BJP Responds to Asarambari Tipra Motha Attack

Following the incident, the ruling party swung into action. A large delegation comprising Ministers, MLAs, and Members of the District Council rushed to the Asarambari Assembly Constituency, located in the sensitive Khowai district of Tripura. The team aimed to assess the situation firsthand, meet with injured party workers, and assure local supporters of the government’s commitment to their safety.

State Minister Tinku Roy, who was part of the team, condemned the violence in strong terms. He said, “We will not tolerate such political hooliganism. The Asarambari Tipra Motha attack was clearly meant to disrupt our peaceful program during Mann Ki Baat and to scare BJP workers. But we are not afraid.”

Tensions Flare During Mann Ki Baat Program

The alleged attack occurred on Sunday while BJP workers were gathered to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio address, Mann Ki Baat. According to local BJP leaders, Tipra Motha supporters suddenly stormed the event venue and physically assaulted party members. Several BJP workers reportedly sustained injuries.

Eyewitnesses said that the gathering had been peaceful until the unexpected disruption. Videos of the incident circulated on social media, showing scuffles and chaos. BJP leaders blamed Tipra Motha for trying to incite unrest in a traditionally calm region.

However, Tipra Motha has denied any involvement in the violence, calling it “a politically motivated accusation.”

Tripura BJP Delegation Visits Affected Workers

The BJP team visited hospitals where injured workers were being treated and assured them of full support from the party and the state government. Minister Santana Chakma, also part of the delegation, said, “We are here not just to show solidarity but to ensure that justice is served. The Asarambari Tipra Motha attack will not go unpunished.”

The visiting team also interacted with local residents and party cadres to restore confidence and prevent further escalation. They promised security arrangements and sought immediate police action against those responsible for the incident.

FIR Filed, Police Begin Probe

Tripura police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on complaints from BJP members. A preliminary investigation has been launched, and a few suspects have been detained for questioning. The authorities have also deployed additional forces in the area to prevent any retaliatory clashes.

Khowai Superintendent of Police stated, “We have taken the matter seriously. A team is already on the ground gathering evidence, and if the Asarambari Tipra Motha attack is confirmed, legal steps will follow accordingly.”

Meanwhile, opposition parties have accused the ruling BJP of politicizing a minor altercation. The Tipra Motha leadership maintains that their supporters were not involved and have demanded an impartial investigation.

Political Fallout in Khowai District

The incident has brought political violence in Tripura back into the spotlight. Khowai district, especially the Asarambari Assembly Constituency, has been seen as a politically volatile zone with strong tribal representation. The clash between BJP and Tipra Motha supporters could impact voter sentiment in the region.

Observers believe that such incidents could deepen the political divide and inflame existing tensions between the state’s tribal and non-tribal populations. The Asarambari Tipra Motha attack has become a new flashpoint in the ongoing rivalry between the two major parties.

CM Manik Saha Calls for Calm

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha addressed the issue during a press interaction and urged both parties to maintain peace. “We must not allow violence to take over our political discourse. I have instructed the police to take strict action, regardless of party affiliation,” he said.

He also reiterated his government’s commitment to democratic values and condemned any attempt to create instability through force or intimidation.

Way Forward

As Tripura heads into a politically sensitive period, the Asarambari Tipra Motha attack serves as a reminder of the fragile political environment in the region. The response from the ruling BJP has been swift, but the situation calls for restraint, impartial investigation, and dialogue between parties.

The coming days will determine whether the issue will be resolved through institutional channels or continue to fuel political friction across Tripura.
