Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday inaugurated a two-lane flyover at Arya Nagar in Guwahati. For the convenience of the passengers, a flyover has been constructed near Arya Vidyapeeth College. About Rs 150 crore has been spent in the construction of the 790 meter long flyover.
The foundation stone of the flyover was laid on February 26, 2021, just before the 2021 assembly elections. The stipulated time for completion of this flyover was 30 months. The flyover to be completed by August 2023 has been completed in just 20 months. Colorful paintings of freedom fighters of Assam have been made on the flyover.
People will also get to see the Battle of Saraighat and a glimpse of Kaziranga National Park. Earlier, CM Sharma had said that the flyover would be inaugurated before the match to prevent traffic jams during the T20 match between India and South Africa.
