Congress has released its manifesto for the Tripura assembly elections. In which it has been promised to restore the old pension scheme for government employees, create 50 thousand new jobs, increase the wages of agricultural laborers and provide 150 units of free electricity every month. On the occasion of the release of Congress manifesto in Agartala on Sunday, senior party leader and lone MLA Sudip Roy Barman said that keeping in mind the welfare of the poor and middle class people, a 20-point program has been prepared. He said that in the manifesto the party has focused on employment, welfare of employees and poor and middle class people.
Congress Special package for poor, tribal people
Roy Barman said that a realistic approach would be taken to solve the problem of 10,323 retrenched teachers and better remuneration would be given to SSA teachers. He said that the Congress also supports the empowerment of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) through the 125th Constitutional Amendment. Roy Barman said, “The Congress is committed to the welfare of the poor tribal people and if the party gets the blessings of the voters in the assembly elections, it will announce a special package for their welfare.”
So many units of electricity will be available free of cost
He said, “The Congress has also promised to provide 150 units of free electricity to the people by stopping power theft and wastage. Besides, strict steps will be taken to ensure law and order in the state. Polling for Tripura’s 60-member assembly will be held on February 16, while the counting of votes will take place on March 2. In Tripura, the Congress has decided to contest the assembly elections in alliance with the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M). The party has fielded its candidates on 13 seats.
