CPIM State General Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury has issued a strong condemnation of the violent attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ event held at Taksapara, under the Asharambari Assembly constituency. The incident, which took place earlier today, has sparked political outrage and raised serious concerns about law and order in the region.
In a sharply worded statement released on his official Facebook page, Chaudhury termed the attack as a “grave assault on democratic values.” He emphasized that political violence, regardless of party affiliation or the nature of the event, is unacceptable in a democratic society.
“Be it a public or private program, organized by the ruling party, opposition, allies or non-allies, any attack on a political event is brutal, undemocratic, and must be strongly condemned,” Chaudhury stated.
BJP Supporters Injured, Vehicles Vandalized
According to local sources, more than six BJP supporters sustained injuries during the assault. Several vehicles, including a Maruti Swift car and over five motorcycles, were reportedly damaged or vandalized by unidentified miscreants. The exact number of attackers and the motive behind the attack are still under investigation.
Local police have begun probing the matter and collected evidence from the scene. However, no arrests have been made as of now.
Tipra Motha Denies Involvement
Adding a political twist to the incident, Animesh Debbarma, the Asharambari MLA and a senior leader of Tipra Motha, is scheduled to visit the affected area on Tuesday. In a statement issued earlier, Debbarma denied any involvement of Tipra Motha workers or supporters in the incident.
“We have no connection with this violence. Tipra Motha does not support or engage in such acts,” Debbarma clarified, distancing the party from the attack.
Rising Political Tensions Ahead of Local Elections
The attack has intensified political tensions in the region, with opposition and ruling parties exchanging sharp remarks over security and accountability. The state administration is under pressure to identify and apprehend the perpetrators to prevent further escalation.
The incident comes at a sensitive time, with local body elections on the horizon. Political analysts suggest this may lead to increased security measures during public events in politically volatile constituencies like Asharambari.
What’s Next?
All eyes are now on the ongoing police investigation, which is expected to uncover the identities of those behind the attack. With political tempers running high, leaders from all parties have called for calm and urged their supporters to maintain peace.
