The Dambuk assault case involving a 70-year-old woman in Arunachal Pradesh has drawn strong condemnation from the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS), which has demanded strict legal action. The alleged incident took place in Poblung village in Lower Dibang Valley district on September 9.
According to police, the woman was returning home from her agricultural field when she was allegedly attacked. The accused was arrested after the incident and later remanded to judicial custody. The investigation remains underway.
Dambuk assault case under police investigation
The Dambuk assault case was registered at Dambuk police station under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections related to rape and attempt to murder, police said.
Investigators said the accused allegedly choked and overpowered the woman before forcing her to the ground. He reportedly fled after noticing people approaching the area.
Police subsequently identified the accused as Kangge Pertin and arrested him. He was produced before a court, which remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody. The charges remain allegations at this stage, and the investigation will determine the facts of the case.
