External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in New York on Wednesday. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week.
The discussions focused on the India-US strategic partnership and several regional and global issues. Both sides also discussed upcoming multilateral engagements and priorities in the Indo-Pacific.
Rubio said the meeting provided an opportunity to build on the strategic partnership between India and the United States. He also said both countries would coordinate on key regional priorities and upcoming multilateral efforts.

The legislation gives the US administration authority to impose tariffs of up to 100 percent on countries that continue to purchase Russian energy. India remains a major buyer of Russian crude oil.
