Former Miss India Tripura 2017, Rinky Chakma, succumbed to cancer at the age of 28 after a brave two-year fight against the disease.
Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment
In 2022, Rinky was diagnosed with a malignant Phyllodes Tumor (breast cancer). She underwent surgery to combat the disease. Despite her courageous efforts, the cancer metastasized, spreading to her lungs and eventually leading to a brain tumor.
Despite undergoing chemotherapy, Rinky’s health continued to decline. Recent reports indicate that she was in critical condition, leading to her admission to Max Hospital Saket on February 22. Ventilator support was required in the ICU due to severe lung impairment.
Last month, Rinky Chakma took to Instagram to seek financial assistance for her treatment. In a heartfelt post, she shared her cancer journey, expressing initial hesitance about sharing her health struggles on social media.
Rinky Chakma gained recognition and accolades after winning the Miss India Tripura pageant in 2017. As a Miss India finalist, she also secured two sub-titles, Miss Congeniality and Beauty With a Purpose.
It’s important to note that in the same year, Manushi Chhillar achieved a historic win by securing both the Miss World pageant and the Miss India World pageant titles.
