Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has announced that infrastructure projects worth nearly Rs 2 lakh crore will support Assam’s development in the coming years.
Speaking at a public event in Assam, Gadkari said the Centre remains committed to transforming the state through large-scale road, bridge, and connectivity projects. He stated that the government wants to strengthen transport infrastructure to improve economic growth and regional connectivity.
The Union minister also highlighted the importance of Assam in the development of the Northeast. According to him, modern infrastructure can play a major role in boosting trade, tourism, industry, and employment opportunities in the region.

Massive infrastructure push planned for Assam
Nitin Gadkari said the Centre has already undertaken several highway and bridge projects in Assam. He added that many more projects are currently under construction or in the planning stage.
According to the minister, the total value of ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects in the state will reach nearly Rs 2 lakh crore.
