Held at the District Secretariat, the event drew participation from over 100 attendees. Business owners from retail, service, and trading sectors took part in the day-long training. Digital Filing and Compliance Made Simpler
The training focused on easing digital GST filing, a challenge many small business owners still face. Officials guided attendees step-by-step on how to file returns, claim input tax credit, and avoid penalties.
Importantly, speakers emphasized the benefits of regular filing. They also introduced the GST Helpdesk and Seva Kendra services that assist taxpayers in remote areas. As a result, many participants felt more confident about managing their GST responsibilities independently.
Enhancing Business Participation Through Awareness
Raising GST awareness in Arunachal is critical for improving tax compliance and supporting local entrepreneurship. In hilly and interior regions, many traders and small business owners operate informally due to limited access to tax education.
This training served as a bridge between policy and the grassroots. Several participants said it was their first detailed session on GST since its launch. They also requested follow-up events in nearby towns, as such practical training helps them align with national standards.
Roadmap for Future Training and Outreach
To continue building on this momentum, the GST department plans similar sessions in districts such as Dirang, Tawang, and Seppa. These future events aim to deepen GST awareness in Arunachal by reaching business hubs across remote zones.
Moreover, the department is working on introducing GST tutorials in local languages. This step will make digital filing easier for those not fluent in Hindi or English. It also ensures inclusion for tribal entrepreneurs who want to formalize their business operations.
Officials also mentioned the launch of additional GST Seva Kendras in smaller markets. These centres will serve as walk-in points for assistance, further improving access and transparency.
