Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday launched a strong attack on those advocating the ideas of “Tipraland” and “Greater Tipraland,” alleging that such slogans are being used to mislead innocent tribal communities.
Addressing a large tribal gathering at Demdum in Unakoti district, the Chief Minister accused certain groups of repeatedly raising similar demands under different names to create confusion among the people.

Accusations of Misleading Tribal Communities
Saha claimed that some organisations continue to propagate divisive agendas instead of focusing on development. He said these slogans attempt to emotionally influence tribal communities while offering no clear roadmap for progress.
According to him, leaders who earlier held power in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) failed to deliver meaningful development. He alleged that governance during their tenure had turned into a “mockery of development.”
Allegations of Undermining Democracy
The Chief Minister further accused certain elements of undermining democratic values. He claimed that acts such as attacking vehicles, targeting homes, and tearing down flags created an atmosphere of fear and instability.
“Democracy has been trampled upon,” Saha said, alleging that attempts were made to obstruct government functioning by spreading unrest. He maintained that such actions weaken institutions and harm public trust.
Call for Unity and Social Harmony
Saha emphasised that peace and unity remain essential for Tripura’s growth. He warned that divisive slogans and confrontational politics could damage the state’s social harmony.
Urging people to stay vigilant, he appealed for collective resistance against what he described as conspiracies aimed at disturbing stability. “For the sake of development and the protection of democracy, everyone must stand together against divisive agendas,” he said.
Focus on Development
The Chief Minister reiterated that his government prioritises infrastructure, education, healthcare, and employment opportunities in tribal areas. He said inclusive growth, rather than separatist demands, would ensure lasting progress for communities.
The rally at Demdum drew a significant turnout, reflecting heightened political engagement in the region. With debates around autonomy and development continuing, Saha’s remarks signal an intensified political discourse ahead of future electoral contests.
As discussions over “Tipraland” and “Greater Tipraland” persist, the Chief Minister’s message underscored the government’s stand on unity, democratic values, and sustained development across Tripura.
