The jawan, hailing from Manipur’s Imphal East district, was part of a BSF unit stationed near the international border in Punjab when the fatal drone attack occurred. Officials said the jawan was seriously injured during the strike and later succumbed to his injuries, triggering a wave of grief both in his native village and across the state.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed his condolences to the grieving family and lauded the jawan’s bravery. “Manipur has always produced brave hearts who sacrifice their lives for the nation. Constable Ratan Singh’s supreme sacrifice will not be forgotten. As a mark of respect, the state government is extending a financial aid of ₹10 lakh to his family,” he said in a statement.

Family members, although devastated, expressed pride in his service. “He always wanted to serve the nation. He died doing what he loved. We only wish no more families have to face this pain,” said his elder brother.
The local administration has also announced additional support, including job assistance for a family member and educational aid for the jawan’s children.
