In a grim incident, Manipur police successfully arrested an 18-year-old teenager, Tensubam Khambaton, for the alleged brutal murder of his 80-year-old grandmother, Keisham Radhe, at Poiroukhongjil village under the Yairipok police station in Thoubal district.

Tragic Family Ties: Culprit Identified as Victim’s Grandson

Khambaton, identified as the grandson of the deceased, is the offspring of one of Radhe’s daughters, who had married a resident of Poiroukhongjil village in the same district. The horrifying incident unfolded at the victim’s first son’s residence in Yairipok Pechi Leikai, Thoubal district, on January 8, 2024.

Fateful Discovery: Victim Found Dead with Robbed Gold Earrings

On that ill-fated day, Radhe, who resided with her second son at Yairipok Bamon Leikai, visited her first son’s residence. Shockingly, she was discovered lifeless with her gold earrings missing at Yairipok Pechi. The police confirmed the recovery of the weapon used in the crime.

The Manipur police acted swiftly, apprehending Khambaton from his residence at Poiroukhongjil village under the Yairipok police station. The arrest followed an intensive investigation into the heinous crime.

Public Outcry: Sit-In Protest Against Gruesome Murder

In response to the brutal murder, a sit-in protest took place at Yairipok Keithel on January 10, organized by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the incident. The JAC, refusing to claim the body until the perpetrator(s) is/are apprehended, displayed placards condemning the act and demanding the swift arrest and punishment of the culprit(s).
