Tripura’s Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport can operate domestic and international flights round the clock. Airport Director Krishan Mohan Nehra confirmed this during an interaction with the media on Wednesday. He said the airport has the required infrastructure, manpower, and systems to support 24×7 services.
Response to Indigo Flight Disruptions
Nehra addressed the recent disruptions in Indigo’s schedule between 29 November and 9 December 2025. During this period, Indigo cancelled 39 flights, which caused serious inconvenience to travellers.
He said the airport acted immediately after the cancellations. “We increased staff deployment and kept our teams on the ground throughout the day. Our goal was simple: help passengers as quickly as possible,” he stated.

Steps Taken to Support Passengers
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) team in Agartala arranged extra seating inside and outside the terminal to ease crowding. The airport also upgraded its sanitation drive. Staff members cleaned restrooms more frequently and checked hygiene conditions throughout the day.
To ensure comfort, the airport made drinking water and snacks available without interruption. All food outlets received instructions to remain open until the last flight and maintain stable prices.
Airlines Restore Smooth Operations
Indigo informed the airport that it completed baggage delivery for all affected passengers. The airline also processed refunds for all cancelled flights up to 9 December.
Nehra said Indigo has now restored strong performance. “The airline struggled with On Time Performance in the initial days. But since 7 December, they have maintained 100 percent OTP at MBB Airport,” he added.
To help stranded travellers, Indigo arranged an additional Delhi-bound flight today. Other airlines—Air India Express and Akasa Air—are operating normally without delays.
Current Flight Movement at MBB Airport
MBB Airport currently handles:
- 10 Indigo flights
- 3 Air India Express flights
- 1 Akasa Air flight
Nehra said the airport can support more flights whenever required.
Airport Strengthens Capability for Future Demand
Nehra reaffirmed the airport’s readiness for continued growth. He said MBB Airport has modern equipment, strong coordination among teams, and trained staff capable of handling heavy passenger flow.
He added that the airport aims to offer a smooth, safe, and comfortable travel experience for everyone passing through Agartala.
