Mwchang Club lifted the Nirmal Debbarma Memorial Prize Money Knockout Football Tournament title after a commanding 4–1 victory over Uttala Basti in the grand finale held at Baijalbari School ground. The match drew a huge crowd, adding to the excitement of the holiday event.

The final turned into a showcase of skill and teamwork from Mwchang Club. Akash Debbarma emerged as the star of the match, scoring twice and assisting another goal. His precise passes and quick runs kept the Uttala Basti defense under constant pressure. Supporting him was Trishenjit Debbarma, who also netted two goals, sealing the fate of the opposition.

Uttala Basti, despite showing flashes of attacking play, struggled to convert their chances. Their lone goal provided some consolation but couldn’t turn the tide against Machang’s well-coordinated game plan.

The match was officiated by referee Tapas Debbarma, who ensured fair play throughout. The atmosphere was electric, with football fans from across Khowai district cheering for their teams.

At the closing ceremony, dignitaries including Prasenjit Debbarma and Khagendra Debbarma handed over the prizes. Mwchang Club received the champion’s trophy along with ₹25,000 in cash, while runners-up Uttala Basti took home ₹15,000.

Tournament organizer Bikash Debbarma thanked all players, officials, and supporters, noting that the event’s success reflected the strong community spirit and love for football in the region. He also praised the efforts of Khowai’s Club Society, which worked tirelessly to host the tournament smoothly.

The Nirmal Debbarma Memorial tournament has become a much-anticipated event in the local sporting calendar, giving talented players from rural areas a platform to showcase their skills. This year’s edition once again highlighted the growing enthusiasm for grassroots football in Tripura, inspiring hopes for the sport’s brighter future in the state.
