The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala is gearing up to host a grand programme on April 27 in the prestigious ‘Visvesvaraiya’ auditorium. The event is being organized to mark the ceremony of handing over the first product developed by S-TIC NIT Agartala to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, Government of India. Several space scientists from ISRO have been invited to attend the programme and accept the new product.
However, what has raised eyebrows is the unconventional choice of chief guest for the event. Former Chief Minister and incumbent Rajya Sabha member Biplab Kumar Deb, who has minimal involvement with the Tripura BJP following his appointment as ‘Pravari’ of Haryana, has been invited as the chief guest instead of the incumbent Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who is also a former professor and educationist. The NIT authority has not provided any explanation for this decision, leaving many puzzled.
