Yak Mela has grown into one of the most anticipated festivals for the Monpa and Brokpa herding groups. The third edition, held at an altitude of over 13,700 feet, attracted visitors from across Arunachal and nearby states. The three-day event combined traditional competitions, folk dances, and exhibitions focusing on livestock rearing, culture, and sustainable living.

Governor and Chief Minister Applaud Cultural Pride

Governor Om Prakash Mathur praised the festival, calling it a living example of Arunachal’s deep cultural roots. According to him, such events strengthen identity and create awareness about environmental balance.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, an advocate of cultural conservation, also applauded the festival’s success.
