The third edition of Petuk Somabesh, a vibrant celebration of food and culture, recently concluded in Agartala, leaving a lasting impression on attendees. Held from December 21st to 25th at the Netaji Play Forum Ground, the five-day festival showcased a diverse range of culinary delights from across India and the globe.
Organized by Netaji Play Forum Centre and curated by Agartala Events for You (a venture of Totell), Petuk Somabesh 2024 exceeded expectations. Over 40 stalls offered a tantalizing array of flavors, from traditional Bengali sweets and authentic Tripuri delicacies to international cuisines.
The festival was not just about food. Lively band performances by Reyaz, Catalyst, Little Star, Milestone, Bhairabi, BSPG, Agni, The Pillow Records, and Music in Soul energized the crowds. Cultural activities such as recitations, quizzes, folk dances, and a cooking competition added to the festive atmosphere. A fashion show by Totell Fashion showcased the beauty of traditional and winter attire.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Arnav Chakraborty, Convener of Petuk Somabesh, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response. “We are thrilled to see how food has brought people together, fostering cultural exchange and creating lasting memories,” he said. “We extend our sincere thanks to the people of Agartala, our sponsors, and all the participants who made this event a resounding success.”
As the curtains came down on this year’s edition, organizers announced plans for an even grander Petuk Somabesh in 2025, promising an even more diverse and exciting culinary and cultural experience.
